Edward W. Sonneborn Jr.

Ed Sonneborn, Jr was born on January 9, 1940, in Brooklyn, NY. His family moved to the Spokane, WA area in 1946 and ended up settling down at Picnic Pines Resort on Silver Lake, WA. He attended school at Four Lakes Elementary and graduated from Medical Lake High School in 1958. Soon after graduating from Washington State University in 1962, Ed married his high school sweetheart Carmen. He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1962 to 1982, serving two tours in Vietnam. During his time in the Marine Corp, Ed enjoyed his time stationed in numerous states on the East Coast. When he retired, he moved his family back home to Medical Lake, WA. and with the support from his family, Ed was blessed to launch his second career into entrepreneurship where he and Carmen started two businesses. First, an in-home daycare/preschool, and the other being a structural steel joist and deck business, later branching out with raising Alpacas. Ed had a love for people and enjoyed his time with the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Shriners, Kiwanis, golfing, taking in the views of his beloved Silver Lake, and socializing at the local watering holes. Ed is survived by his three children, Edward Sonneborn, III, Scott Sonneborn, and Janet Stephens, his seven grandchildren, and one Great Grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife Carmen Sonneborn. Ed passed away peacefully with family by his side on February 24, 2022. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at 1 pm at Cheney Funeral Chapel, 1632 W. First St, Cheney, WA 99004.
