Christy Lynn Blount

December 16, 1959 - February 11, 2022

Christy Lynn Blount (née Hinson) (previously Christy Phelps), 62, passed away after a long battle with cancer on February 11, 2022, in Spokane, WA. She is now at peace in heaven with Jesus. Christy was born December 16, 1959, in Sumter, South Carolina, the second of three children, to loving parents Joseph and Patsy Hinson. Her father served in the Air Force, which took the family all over the world. Throughout her childhood and adult life, she lived in North Carolina, Kansas, Libya, Las Vegas, Oklahoma, and Medical Lake, WA. Christy graduated from Medical Lake High School in 1978. She worked 32 years at Eastern State Hospital and 8 years at Oklahoma Heart Hospital, acquiring multiple medical certifications, before retiring. Christy was an incredibly kind, joyful, and beautiful woman. She was full of smiles and laughter, and every family gathering included her as the life of the party. Christy was generous with her love and affection. She raised three children, Matthew, Sarah, and Jeremy, and doted on her two grandsons Austin and Andrew. The last decade of her life was spent married to her loving and devoted husband, Daniel, living in Oklahoma, traveling to London, Paris, and Spain, and returning home to Washington. Her talents and interests included bead jewelry-making, movies, gardening, antiquing, visiting the ocean, and cooking/baking. She often labored over delicious recipes to share at family gatherings. Christy was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and Christian. Christy was preceded in death by her daughter Sarah Phelps; her father Joseph C. Hinson; and her grandparents Joe and Eva Hinson and William and Ladelpha Sullivan. She is survived by: husband Daniel Blount; mother Patsy Hinson; sons Matthew Phelps (Tami Stevens) & Jeremy Phelps; sister Terri Rushton (Jeffrey Sargent); brother Joseph P. Hinson (Tammy); grandsons Austin Lashley & Andrew Phelps; stepsons Jared & Jordan Blount; nieces and nephews Jesse Rushton (Adrianne); Kalie Rushton; Jessica (Hinson) Spracklen (John); Joseph M. Hinson (Chrisann); Romeo Randles; Malaysia Cantin; Johnny Spracklen; Braydan Cossey; Teagan Cossey; Fisher Rushton; Joseph Hinson; Emilia Hinson; and numerous other family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 12, 2022, at 1 pm at Cheney Church of the Nazarene, 338 Betz Rd, Cheney, WA 99004.
