William Arnold

William (Bill) Arnold was born to Ben and Marguerite (Peg) Arnold on Feb. 11, 1932, in Livingston, Montana, and passed away Aug. 22, 2018 at his home in Cheney. It was Bill's desire to live out his days in his home and the Lord made a way for that to happen. Bill is survived by his wife of 63 years, LouElla Mary Knudson Arnold, who lives in Cheney; his daughter, Helen Bergland, also in Cheney; and his sons Bob Arnold and his wife Cindy from Anchorage, Alaska and Dave Arnold and his wife Sue from Bend, Oregon. Bill was blessed with five grandchildren: Chandra Findlay, David Arnold, Emily Arnold, Jessica Arnold and Sammi Arnold. He also had two lovely grandchildren through Chandra's marriage to Jared Findlay: Bailey Findlay and Colin Findlay. Dad was also blessed to have two great-grandchildren, Oliver and Kennedy Thornquest, Chandra's children. Bill grew up in Yellowstone National Park, immersed in the beauty of nature. His parents, Yellowstone Park Rangers, raised him to love and respect the land on which they lived. Bill was quite a storyteller with an amazing memory. He shared entertaining and poignant stories about growing up in Yellowstone, experiences from high school, college and his service in the U.S. Army when stationed in Korea. Many stories also encompassed his wife and family members, whom he dearly loved, as well as favorite family dogs and cats from over the years. Bill was beloved in the Cheney community and surrounding region as he and Lou ran the Fishers of Men Bible Bookstore. They lived in and served in their neighborhood and church. Bill and Lou loved spending time outdoors and would often find "hidey holes" for camping, fishing and berry picking across the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. The Arnold family is grateful for the outpouring of love from friends, church family, neighbors and folks around the region. We especially love hearing the many ways that Bill touched others' lives as he gave generously of his love, compassion, time and talents. The family asks that donations be made to pastor David and Debbie Wilson of Anchorage, Alaska, to support their lifelong ministry throughout the state. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 26, at Amazing Grace Fellowship Church in Cheney.
