Sarah Jo Phelps

Sarah Jo Phelps (36) passed away unexpectedly on December 28th, 2020. Her family is left with broken hearts and disbelief that she is gone so soon from us. But she is with Jesus now along with her Grandpa Joe Hinson who preceded her in death by six months. Sarah was born in Spokane, WA. She lived her childhood and youth between Medical Lake, WA, and Spokane, growing up between two brothers, Matthew and Jeremy. She attended Carrington College where she earned her Medical Assistant Certification. She worked many years in the health care services, In-Home Care, Lakeland Village, The Carlyle, and a Private Medical office where she worked as an MA. She was a beautiful baby, child, and adult. She cared deeply for her family and was close with her "Granny" Pat Hinson. She always thought of others and how she could help in any way. She looked up to her brothers and loved family gatherings where she would let loose her humor, sometimes spicy, remembering with her brothers the good times growing up. Sarah was beautiful inside and out. Perky with a mean streak at times. But she had a great sense of humor and could make you laugh. And if you needed someone to talk to and be advised by you called Sarah. She would make time to listen and help in any way she could. Sarah was presented with life challenges beyond her ability to overcome at a very young age. But she struggled through, never giving up, raising to young manhood a wonderful son, Austin, always seeing him as a blessing from God. Sarah Jo Phelps is survived by her son, Austin Lashley; her mother, Christy Blount (Danny); her father Jeff Phelps (Jenny); grandmother Pat Hinson; her brothers Matthew Phelps (Tami) and Jeremy Phelps; aunt Terri Rushton (Jeff); uncle Joey Hinson (Tammy), uncle Mike Phelps (Sue), uncle Toni Phelps (Zina); cousins Jessie Rushton, Jessica Spracklen, Kalie Rushton, Joseph Hinson, Christina Buzzard, Michael Phelps, and partner Justin Stokes. A memorial service will be held at Church of the Nazarene, 338 W. Betz Rd., Cheney, WA 99004 on Saturday, January 23rd, 2021 at 11:00 am. Due to COVID 19 masks and social distancing will be required. There will be no reception following. I am saying farewell to my lovely daughter sooner than I could ever imagine, but I believe and trust in God and his timing.
