Patricia Lynn Hawkinson

Patricia “Pat” Lynn Hawkinson passed away on April 2nd, surrounded by those who loved her. Pat was most recently living near her daughter in Spokane, WA. However, she was a resident of Bozeman, MT, for the majority of her life, where she built a life marked by kindness, resilience, and a quiet strength that touched everyone who knew her. Pat was born February 5, 1942, in Bozeman, to Ina Mundt and George Porter. She graduated from Holy Rosary High School and went out of state to attend college in Minneapolis, MN, where she got her Medical Assistant degree and met her husband, Steve. They were married and had their daughter, Lynn. After several years, they moved back to her hometown to make their life together. A few years later, their son Steve was born. Pat dedicated many years to the medical field as a medical assistant and office manager in both orthopedic and internal medicine practices. She took breaks from healthcare to work at Montana State University, a local law firm, and run a family business with Steve. She was dedicated to developing and improving the Springhill Subdivision along with another longtime resident. Pat was known for her hard work, willingness to help others, and her dedication to her family, friends, and coworkers. She endured the Montana winters, being on the mountain working her kids' ski races, snowmobiling in Yellowstone, and watching football! Pat was a passionate MSU Bobcat fan, known for her enthusiastic cheers of “Go Cats Go!” Her passion as a Bobcat may have only been superseded by her love for Caitlyn when she became a grandmother. Those two shared many experiences, big and small. Pat loved the sun, adventure, and was game for anything life had to offer; she embraced life with optimism and joy. And her incredible smile filled the space around her. She was a lover of ALL kinds of music and dancing, keeping the beat right up to the end. Beloved as a grandmother, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, Pat was kind, loving, positive, and continuously thankful and grateful. Her strong belief and commitment to her Catholic faith gave her inner strength to overcome challenges and to pay it forward to others. Pat is survived by her daughter, Lynn (Jenifer); son Steve; granddaughter Caitlyn Kind (Chance), and sister Peggy Horner (Ralph), who will forever cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Bob Porter, sister Phyllis Porter (Bob), and her husband Steve. A heartfelt thank you to Ark of Hope. The fantastic care, kindness, and love shown by all of her caregivers, housemates, family, and friends was truly special. A service to honor Pat’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m., June 20th, 2026, at the Ruby River Hotel in Spokane, Washington. Friends and family are invited to attend and share memories
