Irene Mauget Krapko

Irene M. (Mauget) Krapko Four Lakes, WA Of all things, Irene (Mauget) Krapko’s love touched so many and she was loved in return. Irene is remembered as a kind, sincere, and exceptionally sweet woman who always put others first. She remains a cherished member of the Four Lakes, WA community beyond her passing on July 6, 2011. Irene was the youngest of 5 children born June 28, 1936 to Ira and Mary Deeds in Aitkin, MN where she lived until she moved to Cusick, WA in 1952. Following graduation from Cusick High School in 1953, Irene moved to Spokane and worked at Lakeland Village in Medical Lake. Irene married Jules Mauget in 1956 and had four children, Neoma Taylor (Carl), Jules Mauget, Robert “Bob” Mauget, and Michael Mauget. Together they owned and operated the Saddle Inn Tavern in Four Lakes, WA until 1968 . After Jules’ untimely death in 1970, Irene continued to work at the Saddle Inn for Cliff (Rhubarb) & Grace Rohrbach. Irene married John Krapko in 1971 and together they had Christy Bowls (Laree Shanda). Irene became a full time housewife and mother to her 5 children while mastering the fine art of making the world’s greatest Goulash, Chinese Hamburger, Pancakes and Macaroni Shrimp Salad. She showed her children unconditional love, a good, strong work ethic, to value humanity, and to live kindness. For that we thank you, Mama! Irene became especially giddy during holidays as she prepared for her family to gather. She created as many opportunities as possible to bring her kids close to her throughout the year. She equally enjoyed her grandchildren Ian McKinley (Tiffany), Stephanie, Larissa, Cameron, Hannah, Aaron, Austin, Paige and Brandon Mauget, Sky Mauget-Dornbirer, Chelsea and Michal Shanda, Lee Bosse (Ryan), & Nathan Taylor (Heather) and her Great-Grandchildren, Sarah Norton, Orion Mauget-Seimer, Rylee Shanda, and Kyran Taylor . Irene had a great love and pride in her children, grandchildern and great grandchildren, who in return gave her great respect and love. Irene experienced the overwhelming loss of her first husband Jules, her son Bob, and her second husband, John. Irene was a champion at cards and loved to play family and friends. She especially enjoyed snickering when she beat you, which was most of the time. Irene did not slow down despite a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis15 years ago and became the electric scooter queen on the dance floor, at yard sales, and at the casino. Irene is also survived by her Sister Shirley Peterson (Eldon), Pine River MN, and Sister In-law Betty Deeds Minneapolis MN And numerous nieces and nephews. Please join Irene’s family in celebrating her life on Saturday July 16, 2011 at 11 am at Cheney Funeral Chapel, 1632 W. 1st St., Cheney, WA. Reception to follow at the Saddle Inn Tavern,10211 S. Electric Street, Four Lakes, WA. In lieu of flowers the family requests a charitable contribution in Irene’s name to: The Multiple Sclerosis Society, 246 West Riverside Ave., Spokane, WA 99201-0118. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the staff of Sacred Heart Medical Center, North Central Care Center and Hospice of Spokane, whose sincere compassion and excellent care helped allow our mother a dignified and peaceful way home.
